This fall you will vote on Amendment 2, make sure you know all the facts.
What is Amendment 2?
Amendment 2 will amend the state’s constitution to take property taxing authority away from local communities and give increased power to the state legislature, which is expected to try to give a major tax cut for mostly out-of-state businesses if the amendment passes.
There is little evidence to support claims that eliminating property taxes on businesses will benefit West Virginia's economy. However, it would hamper the ability of local governments and schools to provide vital services that do promote growth.
